The 24-Hour Challenge at Norderstedt's Waldstadion invites runners and walkers of all ages to test their endurance on this unique course. Set against the backdrop of vibrant Lawaetzstraße, participants have the freedom to run or walk as much as they can over a period of 24 hours.
The race begins and ends in the heart of Norderstedt at Waldstadion's Lawaetzstraße location, welcoming up to 300 competitors including a maximum of 100 minors with parental consent. The course is designed for continuous movement or breaks as needed, allowing participants flexibility throughout their journey.
Running on an approximately 1.76 km looped asphalt track, the route offers minimal elevation changes—only around three meters per lap—and no street crossings to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted experience. Participants must wear their bib numbers visibly at all times for timing purposes via transponder technology; any damage or loss could result in disqualification.
The event is structured with both individual and team categories rewarding those who cover the most distance within the 24-hour window. Individual winners are determined by gender, while teams can consist of two to four members competing across men’s, women's, and mixed divisions. Each participant's performance contributes equally towards their personal ranking as well as their team total.
Safety measures include mandatory headlamps for nighttime visibility and no pets or transportation devices allowed on the course. For younger participants aged 6-17 years old, recommended distances based on age groups ensure a safe yet challenging experience.
On-site amenities such as hydration stations with drinks and fruit are provided in addition to changing facilities and showers available throughout the event duration. A zoned camping area is also accessible for those looking to stay overnight but requires pre-registration due to limited space availability.
Upon completion, all finishers receive a commemorative medal while top three individual winners by gender and team categories will be awarded during an on-site ceremony. Results can be accessed online post-event along with downloadable certificates of participation.
Participants are reminded that this event is conducted at their own risk under medical supervision if necessary due to health concerns or other emergencies. The organizing committee reserves the right to modify or cancel proceedings based on unforeseen circumstances but guarantees bib transferability in such cases.
