1. "Über-Elbe"-Lauf Barby 2026

Sports enthusiasts and history buffs, mark your calendars for an unforgettable celebration of the County of Barby's 800th anniversary. To commemorate this significant milestone, organizers have planned a special running event during the annual Grafschaftsfest week festivities.
The inaugural "Over-Elbe" Run will take place on August 29, 2026, in the picturesque town of Barby. This unique race offers something for runners of all ages and abilities, from young children to seasoned athletes. The event kicks off with a fun-filled Children's Race at 10:00 AM, covering a distance of 1.6 kilometers along scenic routes near the riverbank.
At 11:00 AM, participants can look forward to an invigorating 8-kilometer main race that winds through historic landscapes and offers breathtaking views. The highlight of this run is its innovative "swimming" start on the Gierseifähre Barby—a floating ferry that transports runners across the Elbe River at the beginning of their journey.
Throughout both races, participants will have the opportunity to experience a slice of history as they cross over the historic Elbbrücke, formerly known as the Kanonenbahn. This bridge stands as a testament to the town's rich heritage and serves as an iconic landmark for runners to marvel at during their run.
To keep everyone cool on this warm summer day, local fire department volunteers will provide refreshing water stations along both race routes. At the finish line, all participants who complete either event can look forward to receiving a high-quality metal medal commemorating their achievement in Barby's historical milestone year.
Registration for the "Over-Elbe" Run is open until August 23, 2026, with options available online or on-site up until race day. Start numbers will be distributed at the local sports hall from August 27 to 19:00 PM and also on race morning.
