10 Mile Turkey Trot

The 10 Mile Turkey Trot, set to take place on Sunday, December 13th, 2026, invites runners of all abilities to lace up and explore the stunning coastal landscapes around Lossiemouth. Registration opens in June, with entries available online until Thursday, December 8th at 9am.
The race starts promptly at 9:00 AM for those aiming to complete it within two hours, followed by a second wave starting at 9:30 AM for runners who anticipate taking longer than that. The course is chip-timed and offers the option of purchasing a bespoke medal upon sign-up, adding an extra touch of personalization.
The event begins in front of Lossiemouth Leisure Centre before winding its way towards Lossiemouth Harbour. From there, it follows scenic coastal roads leading to Covesea and then circles around the local airbase back into town. The route features a water station at the halfway mark for runners to hydrate along the course.
Participants can register and collect their bibs and shoe timing chips from 7:00 AM until 8:45 AM on race day, or opt to pick up their bib ahead of time (details will be provided closer to the event). Bib collection is restricted to a specific area at the back entrance of Lossiemouth Sports & Community Centre; remember to bring photo ID as it's required for entry.
Parking options include spaces near the leisure center and East Beach Car Park, with additional spots available by West Beach. Due to limited parking availability, car-sharing among runners is highly recommended.
The 10 Mile Turkey Trot adheres strictly to Scottish Athletics regulations, ensuring a safe and fair race environment. To comply with these guidelines, participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the event. Running with buggies or pets is not permitted, and only bone-conducting headphones are allowed for those who wish to listen to music during their run.
A strict 2.5-hour cut-off applies; runners expecting a slower pace should start in the first wave at 9:00 AM to ensure full course support until 11:30 AM when marshals will begin withdrawing from specific points along the route.
Upon crossing the finish line, participants can enjoy complimentary refreshments including coffee and light snacks. There's also an awards ceremony for top male and female runners based on gun time, as well as age category winners. Free race photography captures memorable moments throughout the event.
Changing facilities, showers, and toilets are available at both the start and finish lines within Lossiemouth Sports & Community Centre. Participants can leave their bags securely near the community center during the race but should note that organizers do not assume responsibility for lost or stolen items.
