We're excited to annouce the 11th annual “Walk N’ Roll for Lung Cancer Awareness” is Saturday, September 26, 2026 at *new location* Green Branch Park to remember the life of our Dad, Ron E. Fooks Sr., known to many as Big Ron.

Our Dad passed away Thanksgiving morning 2013, after a 3-year battle with small cell carcinoma lung cancer. We know it wasn’t easy for him, especially undergoing several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation while still working full-time and playing in his band The Good Tymes. Dad kept rockin’ but Dad kept fighting and fighting and fighting. We believe that the support of his family, friends and coworkers at Pittsgrove Township Public Works is what really kept dad going and not giving up.

This 5K Fun Walk gives us a chance to keep Big Ron’s spirit alive, and keep his fight going for others who are still battling in hopes of finding a cure for cancer. Nearly 220,000 Americans are diagnosed with lung cancer each year – that’s more than breast, prostate, colon, ovarian, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and melanoma cancers combined. Lung cancer is the leading cancer killer, yet lung cancer receives the fewest research dollars. That’s why we are committed to making a difference. All proceeds will benefit South Jersey Cancer Fund, which is dedicated to serving patients in need in the Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem Counties.

All participants will receive a special Walk ‘N’ Roll t-shirt and refreshments will be provided.
