Nestled among sun-drenched vineyards and cool forest trails, this race offers runners an unforgettable experience through the picturesque countryside. The majority of both routes are comprised of well-trodden field paths that wind through serene landscapes. The 7.5 km course features one lap with a challenging single-track trail segment stretching approximately 250 meters in length, providing a thrilling climb and descent. This route includes elevation changes totaling 145 meters, making it an ideal choice for those looking to test their stamina on varied terrain. For the more ambitious runners, the 15.5 km course doubles the excitement with two laps around the same scenic loop, encompassing 330 meters of vertical gain across its length. This longer distance offers additional checkpoints at kilometers 4, 6, 7.8, 12, and 14 to keep participants fueled throughout their journey. Participants must be at least 16 years old for the shorter route and 18 for the extended course, adhering to guidelines set by DLV (Deutsche Leichtathletik-Verband). Upon arrival, runners are encouraged to register online if possible. Those traveling by car can park conveniently near the sports field where the TuS 04 club's newly renovated changing rooms and showers await. The race starts just a short walk from this location, passing by the local train station in about five minutes. Competitors will find that no parking is available at the starting point itself but they are welcome to leave their bags there for easy access during the event. For those coming from Idar-Oberstein or Mainz, public transportation offers an efficient and scenic alternative with trains stopping nearby every hour beginning at 8:30 AM. Since 2022, signs have marked the entire route year-round, allowing runners to familiarize themselves with the course or use it for training purposes. This well-maintained trail system ensures a smooth experience whether you're participating in the race itself or simply enjoying the stunning natural beauty of the region on your own. After crossing the finish line, participants can look forward to an awards ceremony and refreshments at the club house before heading back home with memories of a truly unique running adventure.
