The 12th Annual Race To Stop Hunger 5K returns to Bloomingdale, Illinois on Saturday, August 8 at 7:40am. Race participants will enjoy the scenic wide paths of Mallard Lake Forest Preserve in Bloomingdale. The course offers a mix of limestone and asphalt surfaces, providing runners with varied terrain while ensuring safety during their run. Certified course markers ensure fair play for all, and flush toilet bathrooms are available to meet any last-minute needs. This event has been running strong since 2015, feeding the community by raising funds that have supported over 376,464 life-saving meals annually, helping nourish more than 34,000 children. The race is not just a run; it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger—fighting hunger one step at a time. The course layout includes the Kids Dash for participants under ten and a full 5K Run/Walk suitable for runners of all ages. A virtual option also allows those who cannot physically attend to join in, making this event accessible to everyone. Cash prizes are awarded to top male and female finishers, with $100 going to first place and $75 to second. Scholarships will be given to high school athletes who participate. Great Course: Enjoy scenic wide paths of the Mallard Lake Forest Preserve, limestone, some asphalt, certified course and flush toilet bathrooms. Kids 1/3 Mile Dash: Registered participants receive an awesome goody bag and ribbon to celebrate. Cash Prizes: Awarded to the top two 5k male & female finishers. $100 1st & $75 2nd. If high school athlete, will give scholarship. Medals are awarded to first, second, and third places in all 5K age categories from 9 years old up to 80 years old. A 5K Team Event is available for groups of three or more participants, with team medals awarded based on the best time (averaged), largest group, and highest fundraising.
