13. Schloss Marienburg Marathon

Set against the picturesque backdrop of Calenberg and Leinebergland, this scenic marathon offers runners an immersive journey through diverse landscapes. Organized by veteran runner Heiner Schütte, the race is tailored for seasoned athletes looking to challenge themselves with a slightly larger event on the Saturday before All Souls' Day. However, it also welcomes newcomers due to its varied terrain and manageable route.
The 21.1 km course weaves through charming village streets, undulating fields both paved and unpaved, winding forest paths, and rugged trails. A standout feature is the refreshment station located in the inner courtyard of Marienburg Castle, where runners can take a momentary respite amidst historic surroundings. In case of logistical adjustments, this stop may be relocated just outside the castle grounds.
The looped course design means that participants pass through Adensen three times to reach each checkpoint, ensuring an engaging and familiar route layout.
