Welcome to the 14th Dorsten SparkassenCross! This annual cross-country race offers a variety of categories for runners of all ages and skill levels. The event, held at the picturesque Bürgerpark Maria Lindenhof, features challenging terrain that winds through rolling meadows with undulating hills. The children's races kick off early in the afternoon, offering distances from 450 meters to 1,400 meters depending on age groups ranging from U8 (7 years and under) up to U12. These shorter courses are designed for young athletes to experience a taste of competitive racing while enjoying the fun atmosphere. For older participants, there's a series of races starting at 2:30 PM with distances increasing from 2,350 meters for the U14/U16 categories up to 3,500 meters for U18 and above. Each race presents its own set of challenges as runners navigate through varied terrain that includes grassy fields and well-maintained trails. Competitors in the men's/women's races from age group 20 onwards will also find a longer distance option at 7,300 meters, which extends beyond the park onto asphalt and gravel paths. This course is particularly suited for those looking to push their limits over an extended period of time. Team events are another highlight with relay options available in both mixed-gender and single-sex formats covering distances of three laps totaling 1,740 meters each. All races start and finish within the park grounds where participants can enjoy a vibrant community atmosphere. The event is meticulously organized by Christian Borgmann to ensure that all runners have an engaging experience on what promises to be one of the most scenic cross-country courses in the region. Registration for this year's SparkassenCross closes on November 4, 2026, with late entries accepted up until 60 minutes before each race begins.
