15th Annual LCEC 5K

The 15th Annual LCEC 5K in Cape Coral, Florida, is set for January 16, 2027. This race has become a beloved tradition among local runners and newcomers alike. As the sun rises over Jim Jeffers Park on that crisp winter morning, participants will find themselves surrounded by the serene beauty of Southwest Florida's landscape. The park’s natural surroundings, with its lush greenery and winding paths, create an ideal setting for this 5K run or walk.
The history of the LCEC Resolution Run 5K is one deeply rooted in community spirit and support for local charities. Since its inception in 2013, it has raised over $47,000 for United Way initiatives that benefit Lee, Hendry, and Glades counties. Each year, hundreds of runners participate, making this event a significant contributor to the area’s charitable efforts.
On race day, participants will experience an exciting course through Jim Jeffers Park. The 5K route is approximately five kilometers long, winding its way across firm yet slightly soft terrain. Runners can expect a mix of paved paths and well-maintained dirt trails, providing a challenging but enjoyable run for all skill levels.
The race begins at 7:30 AM sharp from the start line located on 2817 SW 3rd Ln in Cape Coral. A half-mile kids’ fun run follows immediately after, with awards ceremony taking place by 9:00 AM. The course features a few elevation changes and four aid stations offering water and sports drinks to keep runners hydrated throughout their journey.
Weather conditions for the January date are typically mild but can be quite humid. Runners should anticipate temperatures ranging from around 13°C at dawn, climbing up to about 21°C by mid-morning. The average wind speed is a manageable 12.7 km/h, with plenty of sunshine and low UV index, making it perfect for outdoor activities.
