14th Annual Vicki Soto 5K

The Vicki Soto 5K, now in its 14th year, is more than just a run; it's a tribute to the life and legacy of an extraordinary educator. On November 7, 2026, participants will come together at Stratford, Connecticut, to honor Vicki Soto’s spirit of kindness and dedication.
Vicki was a beloved teacher whose classroom was filled with love, laughter, and learning. Her tragic loss on December 14, 2012, during the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting underscored her bravery and compassion in protecting children within her care. Today, the Vicki Soto Memorial Foundation continues to support education, literacy initiatives, scholarships for future educators, and acts of kindness across communities.
By participating in this year’s race, you are not only running or walking but also investing in a brighter future for students and teachers alike. Your contribution helps expand access to books through classroom libraries and literacy programs, awards renewable scholarships up to $12,000 over four years, supports book drives, and provides more than $30,000 annually to local community partners.
The event attracts thousands of runners, walkers, families, educators, students, volunteers, and supporters each year. Whether you are chasing a personal best or walking alongside loved ones, the race offers an opportunity for everyone to come together in hope, compassion, and service. Bibs and race shirts must be picked up before the start of the event, and admission into the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater requires either a bib number or a spectator wristband.
The certified USATF 2026 Vicki Soto Race Route offers scenic views as participants traverse through Stratford’s picturesque landscapes. Awards will be given to top male and female overall finishers along with the first three in each age group: 9 & Under, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+. These awards will be presented at the timing tent following the race.
