14th Summer’s End 5k

The 14th Summer’s End 5k returns to Dewey Beach on September 6th, 2026, in Delaware, USA. The race is part of the Ten Sisters of Dewey Beach Road Race Series and attracts participants from across the region.
Race morning finds runners gathering at the scenic Dewey Lake Park, located off Route 1 near the center of town. As autumn sets in, the park offers a picturesque backdrop with colorful foliage framing the start line, making for an idyllic setting to kick off your run. The atmosphere is relaxed and community-focused, as local residents often join or cheer from nearby benches and paths.
This event has been running strong since its inception, now entering its 14th year under the banner of supporting scholarships at Dewey Beach High School. Every year brings new participants; in 2025 alone, over 300 runners participated, underscoring the community's deep commitment to this tradition.
The race covers a flat and fast course along Ten Sisters Road before circling back through downtown Dewey Beach for its final sprint to the finish line at Dewey Lake Park. The terrain is well-maintained with smooth asphalt providing excellent footing throughout. Notable features include the historic beachfront views, which offer an extra boost of motivation during your run.
The start and finish are located in the heart of the park, where a small banner marks the beginning and end lines clearly visible against the greenery. There are no aid stations along this course; however, water is available at both start and finish areas. The weather on race day typically feels like 21.7°C with a slight breeze ranging from calm to moderate speeds of up to 13 km/h, which can make for slightly cooler conditions compared to the actual temperature.
The race offers two options: the main event, "5K Registration Run / Walk" and its competitive cousin, "COMPETITIVE WALKING 5K." Both distances are 5km long.
