1500 Meters for Mike 2026

Dive into the cool waters of Belmar's Ocean at 11th Avenue on Saturday, September 12, 2026, for the annual "1500 Meters for Mike" open water swim. This year marks the twelfth edition of this inspiring event, which honors Michael Heaney and supports individuals living with brain trauma.
Registration opens early at 7:00am on race day, allowing you to secure your spot among the first 500 swimmers who will receive a commemorative t-shirt while supplies last. If you register before September 2nd, the cost is $35; afterward, it increases to $40 for late registration and same-day sign-ups.
The swim itself covers one mile in the refreshing ocean waters off Belmar's shoreline. Over the past decade, this event has attracted more than 600 participants each year who come together not just to challenge themselves but also to raise funds for important causes related to brain trauma support and research.
As you prepare to take part, remember that bib assignments will be made upon arrival at check-in. Be sure to bring your registration ID number with you on race day to facilitate a smooth process. The event organizers have streamlined the check-in procedure this year, so please follow volunteers' instructions for an efficient entry into the water.
Swimmers can also form fundraising teams or contribute individually through designated buttons during their online sign-up process. Top ten fundraisers will receive additional swag and gift cards as recognition of their efforts to support brain trauma charities and the Michael Heaney Fund Scholarship program.
