Barton-le-Clay Village Hall is set to host an exciting navigation-based race on the weekend of 1st September through 26th October 2026. This unique event offers runners and walkers three distinct routes: a challenging 26-mile course, a moderate 18-mile option, and a more relaxed 12-mile walk-only route. Registration opens online at www.sientries.co.uk on the first day of entry for LDWA members from September 1st. All other entrants can join starting October 19th at noon. Participants must pre-register as no entries will be accepted on-site, and substitutions are not allowed once registered. The race starts between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM, with the final checkpoint closing time set for 6:30 PM to ensure all participants make it back safely by the village hall's closure at 7:00 PM. Each route includes specific checkpoints that must be visited within designated times; missing these deadlines will result in disqualification. The event takes place near Barton-le-Clay Village Hall, MK45 4 JY, with parking available either at the village hall or Arnold Academy on Hexton Road, MK45 4JZ. Entrants are advised to follow marshals' directions and avoid unauthorized street parking areas around the venue. All participants must download their own route descriptions from the BBN website by November 5th, as printed copies will not be available at the event site. These detailed guides include critical information such as checkpoint times and GPX files for navigation assistance. Competitors are encouraged to bring a compass, torch (for late finishers), first aid kit, waterproof clothing, and appropriate insurance if bringing dogs. Refreshments are included in the entry fee, offering biscuits at the start line, snacks at each checkpoint, and a light meal upon finishing. Vegetarian options will be provided; however, specific dietary requirements cannot be accommodated due to logistical constraints. Upon completion of any distance, runners and walkers receive certificates as well as badges if requested. Additionally, those who complete all three legs of BBN’s Triple Challenge—Shillington Shuffle, Sundon Saunter, and Steppingley Step—will earn special recognition with unique awards for their achievement in navigating these treacherous yet rewarding routes. This event promises an engaging mix of physical challenge and scenic beauty across Bedfordshire's picturesque countryside. With strict adherence to the Countryside Code throughout, participants are invited to embrace this adventure while respecting local environments.
