16. Dodenauer Volks- und Strassenlauf

Running enthusiasts will be delighted to know that the Dodenauer Volks- und Straßenlauf, scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2026, is set to welcome runners from near and far. This annual race has seen a steady increase in participation over recent years, making it an exciting event within the popular Waldeck-Frankenberger-Laufcup series.
The Dodenauer Volks- und Straßenlauf offers something for every level of runner with its varied distances: a half marathon, 10 km, and two shorter options at 5 km and 2 km. The course is meticulously measured to best-list standards, ensuring accuracy and fairness for all competitors.
What sets this race apart is the unique terrain that includes an old railway track between Dodenau and Hatzfeld, which offers a flat and largely shaded route perfect for both serious runners and casual joggers alike. A particular highlight of the course is its passage through a 325-meter-long tunnel connecting Dodenau to Reddighausen.
Participants will start and finish at the Festplatz in front of the Mehrzweckhalle Dodenau, providing easy access for spectators and supporters to cheer on runners as they cross the finish line.
In addition to the traditional running categories, Nordic walkers can also take part in a specially designed 7.5 km route.
After crossing the finish line, runners are invited to enjoy some well-deserved refreshments with hearty food available at reasonable prices near the Mehrzweckhalle Dodenau. This post-race gathering is an excellent opportunity for participants and spectators alike to socialize and celebrate their achievements.
