1600 Challenge

About the Event

The 1600 Challenge is set to take place on October 3, 2026, at DJK Aschaffenburg, organized by Functional Fitness CLUB by Jörg Oberle. This functional fitness event aims to bring together the community of athletes and enthusiasts in a dynamic setting that showcases the essence of functional training.
Participants will experience four distinct disciplines spread across 400 meters each: Bear Crawl, Burpees, Walking Lunges, and Sprint. The competition offers various levels for different skill sets—novice participants can opt for shorter distances (100m), intermediate athletes can tackle longer stretches (200m), while the elite competitors will face a full 400-meter challenge in each discipline.
The event caters to individuals as well as relay teams, providing an engaging experience whether you're racing solo or alongside teammates. For families and younger participants, there's even a special kids' category with shorter distances (50m) for four rounds of the main disciplines. Additionally, the Bravehearts Charity race will feature 4 x 400 meters to support children’s cancer treatment in Frankfurt.
The competition format is straightforward: competitors complete all four disciplines consecutively, and their overall time determines placement within heats comprising several participants. Awards are given for Solo, Double Man, Double Woman, Double Mixed Teams, and Relay (only on the 400m distance).
This event attracts a diverse crowd including fitness enthusiasts of various skill levels, corporate teams, youth athletes, families looking to engage in friendly competition, and local spectators from Aschaffenburg.
Functional training is at the heart of this challenge. It focuses on strengthening natural movement patterns such as pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, running, jumping, and twisting while providing a comprehensive workout that enhances strength, stability, mobility, coordination, and endurance. The 1600 Challenge encapsulates these principles in an easily measurable competitive format.
The event venue features a central arena with clearly marked stations for each discipline, ensuring optimal performance conditions.
