Mark your calendars for the rescheduled Sorpesee Run, set to take place on Friday, September 11, 2026. Due to an unprecedented heatwave, this popular race was originally scheduled for June but has now been moved to a cooler autumn evening.
The event offers three distinct courses: a challenging 15.6 km loop around the Sorpesee's main lake, a shorter yet scenic 6.4 km route that includes a turnaround point, and an accessible walking course of 8.8 km through forest trails with gentle elevation changes totaling 147 meters.
Competitors will gather at the Sorpebrücke near the lake for their respective start times: 15.6 km runners begin promptly at 6 PM; those on the shorter routes take off shortly after, ensuring a well-paced and organized event flow. All participants finish back where they began, offering an ideal setting to soak in the stunning views of Sorpesee.
Race day amenities include three refreshment stations along each course, providing essential hydration and energy boosts throughout your run or walk. Upon crossing the finish line, you'll find additional provisions at a dedicated area near the lake’s shore. For those looking to freshen up post-race, complimentary showers are available nearby on a local camping site.
Awards will be given out in various categories for both male and female athletes across different age groups. Medals await all participants who cross the finish line, serving as tangible memories of this picturesque race experience. Winners will also receive special trophies at an awards ceremony scheduled to begin around 8 PM sharp.
Online registration closes on September 9th, but there's still a chance for latecomers to sign up until just before their start time—simply visit www.ausdauer57.de or use the Race-Result platform. Start fees are €13 for adults and €11 for those under 18.
