18th Pearls of Hope 5k

The 18th Pearls of Hope 5K returns to Wilmington, Delaware on October 3rd, 2026. The event will take place at the historic Brandywine Park in downtown Wilmington, a vibrant city known for its rich history and cultural offerings.
Race morning starts with crisp early-morning temperatures around 10°C, making it comfortable as runners gather by the park's picturesque waterfront. The atmosphere is one of camaraderie among participants who are drawn to this community event, which has been running since 2009. In its 18th year, thousands of individuals from across Delaware and beyond have participated in support of local scholarships and educational programs.
The course venue offers a scenic route through Brandywine Park, starting at the park's main entrance located on South West Street near the intersection with Market Street. The terrain is firm but slightly soft due to typical October weather conditions, which ensures runners maintain their pace while enjoying the natural beauty around them. Notable features include the park’s well-maintained paths and a brief section along the Delaware River.
Participants will start from Brandywine Park at 7 AM sharp, with an approximate one-kilometer out-and-back course that offers minimal elevation changes. Runners can expect aid stations every kilometer to keep them fueled on their journey. The race concludes back in the park, where runners and spectators alike gather for post-race festivities.
Weather conditions are expected to be mild with temperatures ranging from a low of 10°C to a high of around 20°C, feeling like 15°C due to wind speeds averaging at 11 km/h. Humidity levels will range between 65%, making it neither too dry nor too damp for the race day.
The distances offered include a standard 5K registration run or walk and competitive walking options covering exactly 3.1 miles, as well as a shortened Children's 12 & under category with no t-shirt available at a fee of $10.27 per participant.
