2. Gensberg Loop

Wrap up the year with an adventurous twist at the Gensberg Loop race in Wangen an der Aare. Participants can choose from four distances: 3.3 kilometers, 10 kilometers, 23.2 kilometers, or a full marathon of 43.1 kilometers (equivalent to one to thirteen laps around the loop). All runners aim for the finish line at 4 PM, with the longest distance allowing six hours to complete.
The event starts promptly at 10 AM from a conveniently located public parking area near Wangen an der Aare heading towards Herzogenbuchsee. This free-to-use space is easily accessible by foot within twenty minutes if you're traveling via public transport. Starting numbers are available between 9 and 9:45 AM, with final preparations just before the race.
While this event isn't a serious competition, it's more of an enjoyable way to celebrate the end of another year. Every finisher receives a personalized digital certificate and a simple yet elegant medal upon completion. However, there are no facilities such as changing rooms or showers provided on-site; participants should plan accordingly.
The race course is clearly marked with Lauflust-Events' distinctive signs for easy navigation, alongside support from the club's volunteers who will manage valuables storage and provide refreshments along the route. New in 2026 are additional offerings like water, isotonic drinks (sponsored), warm tea, bananas or oranges, Haribo candy, baked goods, and energy bars at each station.
Participants can also leave their own personal snacks on a designated table for convenience during breaks. It's important to note that runners participate entirely at their own risk; the organizers disclaim any liability for damages, loss, illness, or accidents. Participants are responsible for securing their own insurance coverage.
Timing is conducted using multi-use transponders attached to your ankle, which must be returned after crossing the finish line. A CHF 50 fine will apply if a transponder isn't handed back properly at the end of the race. With only fifty spots available and no late registrations accepted, early sign-up is recommended for this unique event.
Participants are encouraged to embrace the scenic beauty around Wangen an der Aare while enjoying a fun-filled day with fellow runners in what promises to be an unforgettable autumn adventure on land where history meets modern sports enthusiasm.
