Steinhagen, Germany is set to host an exhilarating 47-kilometer trail race that promises runners an immersive journey through the picturesque landscapes of Werther and its surrounding areas. Participants will embark on this challenging adventure from the Wanderparkplatz near Gaststätte Friedrichshöhe at Kaistraße 48 in Steinhagen, with a start time set for 8:00 AM.
The race route takes runners along the "Rundwanderweg Werther," which encircles the entire city of Werther and connects its various districts including Häger, Theenhausen, Isingdorf, Rotingdorf, and Rotenhagen. This scenic loop offers a mix of urban paths through the heart of Werther and rural trails that wind around the outskirts.
Adding to the challenge is an initial 31-kilometer stretch on the "Rundwanderweg," followed by an additional segment towards Bielefeld via the Tierpark Olderdissen, where runners will navigate through a beautiful natural setting. The terrain includes varying elevations with approximately 990 meters of climbing throughout the course.
Runners must manage their pace and energy over this demanding route as they are given a generous time limit of ten hours to complete the race. Race timing is conducted manually by Markus Karklis, ensuring an intimate touch that complements the event's small-scale character with only 20 participants allowed.
The entry fee for the race is €20, which can be paid in advance via PayPal. This cost covers administrative expenses and will be refunded at the beginning of September. Early registration is recommended as spaces fill up quickly or until 7:00 PM on the day before the event if the participant limit is reached.
Participants should plan to carry their own food and water throughout the race, with additional opportunities for refreshments along designated points yet to be announced. Unfortunately, there will be no toilet facilities or showers available at any point during the run.
Race results will be published through Race Result, a service that also includes statistical data in the German Ultramarathon Association's database.
