2026 AMERICA’S FINEST CITY HALF MARATHON & 5K

The 2026 America's Finest City Half Marathon & 5K returns to San Diego on Sunday, August 16, 2026. The race is a highlight of the running calendar in Southern California and will celebrate its 49th edition this year.
Your journey starts at Cabrillo National Monument, where you'll be greeted by sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay. From there, run through Historic Fort Rosecrans, enjoy the scenic trails of Point Loma, and follow the coastline along San Diego Bay before heading into vibrant downtown San Diego. The race concludes in iconic Balboa Park, surrounded by cheering fans and live music.
This long-running event has a rich history; it’s been held annually for 49 years now, attracting thousands of participants each year who come to support local charities and enjoy the beauty of America's Finest City. Since its inception, the race has become an integral part of San Diego's community spirit.
The half marathon course offers a fast, flat route through historic parks and bustling neighborhoods. You'll run from Cabrillo National Monument to Balboa Park, passing through Point Loma and along the waterfront. The 5K race is equally exciting with its scenic route through the heart of Balboa Park. Both races are perfect for runners of all levels.
The weather on August 16th will be mild, with an average temperature around 21.7°C (70.9°F), and a humidity level of 78.2%. The wind is expected to blow at about 8.4 km/h (5 mph). Bib pickup will be on Saturday, August 15th from 4 PM to 8 PM at the San Diego Convention Center. Bring your race packet and a government-issued ID if you're under 21 years old or not a US citizen.
The start location is Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma. The event requires all participants to be 13 years of age or older, with exceptions for virtual runners. First-time participants should ensure they have the appropriate gear and are prepared for race day conditions.
