About the Event
This trail race starts at 8:00 on October 17 at the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall in Changping District, Beijing, with the start and finish at Yuntai Square. Places are first come, first served. The 21 km Challenge Group measures 21.3 km with 1,320 m of climbing and a six-hour overall time limit. The route is graded S1, carries a difficulty rating of 1 on the Pi points scale and awards 1 ITRA point. The 4.5 km Experience Group starts at 8:10, covers 4.5 km with 480 m of climbing and has a two-hour limit. From Yuntai Square the course runs past six watchtowers on the eastern Great Wall, then through the North Pass gate tower and down out of the fortress. It climbs along Jiujiu Road past Jiuxian Temple, turns at Shaling and drops along Sisha Road, before following Guangou Valley back to the square. Along the way it crosses the Great Wall, the old post road, the railway line and mountain forest.
