Join us on October 24, 2026, for Bike Doctor Frederick Grand Fondue at Orchid Cellar Meadery & Winery in Middletown, Maryland. This unique cycling event offers routes through diverse terrain—road, gravel, and dirt—from various parts of Frederick County. The ride begins early with start time windows from 7:00 to 8:30 am for the Grand route, 9:00 to 10:00 am for the Half route, and 10:00 to 11:00 am for the Mini route. Participants can choose their own pace within these time slots, ensuring a smoother start experience. Mini riders will enjoy approximately 25 miles of moderate terrain with about 2,000 feet in elevation gain. The Half route covers around 50 miles and features challenging climbs totaling roughly 5,500 feet in elevation. For those seeking an extreme challenge, the Grand route spans over 100 miles with steep ascents reaching up to 10,000 feet. Participants can expect a mix of paved roads, gravel paths, and optional trails. Road bikes equipped with narrow tires are not recommended; at least 32mm wide treaded tires will provide better traction on the varied surfaces. Orchid Cellar Meadery & Winery offers more than just cycling enjoyment. Event glasses come included for participants aged 21 and over, featuring one complimentary drink per person after completing your ride. Ride snacks, live music by Matt Stowell Music (from 2:00 to 5:00 pm), and various prizes await you. Event entry fees range from $30 to $70 depending on the route chosen, with discounts available for junior riders under 19 years old. Registration opens in May 2026; prices increase incrementally as we approach the event date. Aid stations will be set up at ThorpeWood Barn (13002 Mink Farm Rd, Thurmont, MD) from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm for Half and Grand route participants. Pre-ride bike checks are provided by Bike Doctor Frederick, ensuring your ride is both safe and enjoyable. Food trucks such as La Carreta Tacos y Tortas will be on-site (from noon to 6:00 pm), offering delicious options or bring your own fare. Drink stations at Orchid Cellar serve mead and wine exclusively; no outside alcohol is permitted, ensuring a controlled environment for all participants. Gear swaps are encouraged—bring lightly used cycling gear, parts, and accessories to donate or swap/trade with fellow cyclists. Proceeds from this event will benefit Heartly House in Frederick, Maryland—a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free services to survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, human trafficking, and child abuse.
