Experience the thrilling ascent of the Boise Twilight Hill Climb, set against the backdrop of Idaho’s breathtaking landscapes. This unique race offers runners an unforgettable challenge through diverse terrain and stunning views that span from dry creek trails to towering rock formations. The pre-race training series, organized by George's Cycles RF Foundations Race team, kicks off on June 13th with A Group and B Group sessions at the downtown location of George’s Cycles. Each Saturday, B Group participants will progressively increase their mileage, starting from a manageable four miles near Dry Creek Trailhead to an exhilarating sixteen-mile journey up to Simplot Lodge by July 4th. A Group riders will tackle the climb based on road conditions—continuing as far as the terrain becomes wet or snow-covered each week. The ride leader will move among participants, ensuring safety and support throughout the training sessions. After reaching eight miles, regrouping at water drops will occur when temperatures rise to ensure a comfortable pace. On race day, gather at Harrison Hollow Park for packet pickup from Thursday evening until Friday before the event. George's tent will also be present during the Boise Twilight Criterium on the corner of Jefferson and 6th Street if you miss initial pick-up opportunities. Race morning begins early with an assembly line forming by 7:45 AM, followed closely by a mass start at approximately 7:50 AM to ensure runners hit the climb precisely when it opens at 8 AM. The route climbs steeply past Curling, offering both exhilarating views and challenging ascents. For those who complete before 10 AM, remain atop the mountain until this time for safety reasons; traffic control measures will be in place during this period. At 10 AM, you are free to descend or explore the lower lodge area without crossing back over the finish line. The race concludes at Pioneer Lodge’s upper level, where a festive atmosphere awaits with cones marking the official finish line. Medical support and aid stations positioned along the route will ensure your safety throughout the climb. Compete for bragging rights in this fun, non-competitive event that rewards top performers across age groups while offering podium honors to men and women overall. Whether you are a seasoned climber or new to such challenges, the Boise Twilight Hill Climb promises an experience filled with adventure and camaraderie.
