The Fall Winter Cross Country Series (FWCS) is set to kick off with an exciting lineup of races across three distinct locations, offering runners the chance to experience diverse terrains and challenging courses. Scheduled for September 14 through September 24, this series promises a dynamic racing environment tailored specifically for young athletes. In Wayne HS on Mondays, the South division will host two sessions: September 14 and 21. The races are designed with age-appropriate distances to ensure that participants have an enjoyable yet competitive experience. On these days, girls in the first and second grades take off at 5:30 PM, followed by their male counterparts immediately after. Northrop HS welcomes runners on Wednesdays for the North division events, also scheduled for September 16 and 23. The races here continue to cater to young athletes with courses that are both scenic and challenging, providing an excellent opportunity for skill development in a supportive environment. The Central division takes center stage at Lawton Park each Thursday during the same week as the South and North divisions, specifically on September 17 and 24. This park setting offers unique challenges such as varied terrain and natural obstacles, adding to the excitement of the races. Each session features separate starts for different age groups: first and second grade girls lead off at 5:30 PM, followed by their male peers, then third through fifth grade girls, and finally boys in those grades. These staggered start times ensure that every participant has a fair chance to perform under optimal conditions. With races spread across multiple days and locations, the FWCS provides ample opportunities for young runners to hone their skills, build endurance, and experience the camaraderie of competitive cross country running.
