Experience the exhilarating HILO HILL CLIMB – TRAINING TIME TRIAL on Saturday, July 18th, 2026. This challenging cycling event is perfect for both novice and intermediate riders who are looking to push their limits and seasoned enthusiasts seeking a test of skill. The race will kick off at the bustling intersection of Komohana & Puainako Streets in Hilo. Sign-in begins promptly at 6:45am, with helmet numbers available from 6:45am until 7:15am. A pre-race meeting will follow, starting at 7:15am and concluding by 7:20am, ensuring all participants are well-prepared for the climb. At 7:20am, a group photo session offers an opportunity to capture memories with fellow cyclists before the race commences exactly one minute later. The Short Course, covering 12 miles, presents a formidable challenge with a total elevation gain of 2,521 feet. Riders will encounter significant climbs in the first two miles, followed by a grueling final stretch over the last ten. For those seeking an even greater test, the Long Course spans 26 miles and ascends to an impressive 6,242 feet in total elevation gain. This course starts with the same initial climb but then continues its steep ascent for the remaining 24 miles. Both courses are designed specifically for experienced road cyclists looking for a true challenge. Timing will be handled by Webscorer, providing real-time updates as each rider crosses the finish line. Results can be viewed online immediately after completion at www.webscorer.com. Safety remains paramount in this event. Participants must adhere to traffic laws and follow guidelines such as staying right when possible, no drafting, and allowing space for faster riders approaching from behind. Fluids and nutrition will be provided both before the race and upon crossing the finish line. Limited SAG support is available along the course. Rain or shine, participants should prepare accordingly with appropriate gear. Dry or warm clothing shuttles are also offered to ensure a comfortable post-race experience. Mark your own back clearly for easy identification during transit. This event is exclusively open to current members of the Hawaii Cycling Club (HCC), who can register online prior to July 18th, as on-site registration will not be available.
