2026 Santa Shuffle St. John's: Fun Run & Elf Walk

The 2026 Santa Shuffle St. John's Fun Run & Elf Walk invites participants to experience the festive spirit of downtown St. John’s on December 5th, starting at Signal Hill Park. Nestled within this historic district, runners will traverse scenic neighbourhoods and enjoy panoramic views from its hillside trails and landmarks like the Signal Hill National Historic Site.
On race day, expect a brisk morning with temperatures hovering around -4°C, promising clear skies and crisp air for an exhilarating two hours and fifty-eight minutes. The park’s well-maintained paths offer a firm yet slightly soft surface underfoot, making navigation through winding trails both comfortable and enjoyable. Runners will start from the main entrance on Confederation Drive, weaving their way past historic buildings before reaching the finish line near the visitor centre.
This event has been a staple in St. John’s since 2018, supporting The Salvation Army's mission to provide food, shelter, and hope to those in need through participant donations. This year introduces Holiday Hope Champions, an initiative that rewards participants who raise funds for their local Salvation Army with limited-edition prizes such as bibs, medals, and festive accessories.
The 5K Fun Run and the 1K Elf Walk courses follow Signal Hill Park’s trails, presenting a mix of gentle uphill climbs and downhill stretches. The race begins at 9:00 AM sharp; early arrivals can warm up near the park entrance before lining up for the start. Proper running shoes and attire suitable for cold weather are essential.
