23rd Annual Groom Creek Classic: 1/2 Marathon, 10k, 5k Run

This scenic race takes place just a stone's throw from downtown Prescott, set against the backdrop of the Ponderosa Pine forest. The date is significant; it marks the culmination of months of preparation and anticipation.
On that crisp September morning, runners can expect to find themselves surrounded by vibrant shades of green and gold as they begin their journey through Groom Creek’s lush landscape. The community comes alive with a palpable sense of excitement, evident in the chatter among participants and volunteers setting up for the day ahead. This race has been running since 2003, making it one of the most enduring fixtures on Prescott's annual calendar.
Course & Conditions
The terrain is both challenging and rewarding as runners embark on this half marathon and 10k adventure. Starting from the scenic paved path near Friendly Pines Road, the course winds through a mix of smooth dirt forest roads and well-maintained paths before returning to its starting point. The route offers rolling hills that test endurance while providing breathtaking views of the surrounding pine trees.
At the start/finish line on Friendly Pines Road, runners will find an array of amenities including water stations where they can fill their hydration bottles or refill their packs. A reusable and foldable hydration bottle is provided to each participant as part of our efforts to reduce waste in the forest environment. While cups are available at key points along the course, we encourage all participants to bring their own swag bags if needed.

Bibs can be picked up at the Groom Creek Classic registration tent located just off Friendly Pines Road one week prior to race day.
Participants should meet at 1110 E. Friendly Pines Road for the start of the run. Age requirements are as follows: minimum age is 16 years old, with parental consent required for those under 18. First-timers will find helpful tips and support from experienced runners and volunteers alike.
