24 Hours at Lake Z

Dive into 24 Hours at Lake Z, a trail running extravaganza set amidst the scenic beauty of Dahlonega. This inaugural timed event promises an immersive adventure through one of Georgia’s most beloved trails. Known for its challenging terrain featuring rocky and rooty sections, steep climbs and descents, as well as runnable stretches, this course offers runners a diverse experience.
The 4.545-mile loop is designed to test endurance with approximately 800 feet of elevation gain per lap, making it possible to complete over 100 miles within the 24-hour timeframe. With its varied terrain and strategic water crossings, participants will navigate through rugged landscapes that showcase both technical challenges and moments of runnable relief.
A key highlight is the fully-stocked aid station, which goes beyond basic amenities with late-night sliders at 3am, high-protein vegan smoothies midday, and a hearty pancake breakfast as dawn breaks. This ensures runners are fueled throughout their journey, no matter what time of day it may be.
The event will commence and conclude from the pavilion on Highway 52, offering gate access for gear drop-off in designated tent areas nearby. Runners can park off-site with shuttle service to and from the trailhead provided by organizers.
In addition to an exhilarating running experience, participants contribute to a meaningful cause as proceeds from this event will support youth sports scholarships through Lumpkin County Park and Rec's scholarship fund. This initiative underscores the race’s commitment to giving back to local communities while fostering athletic development among young athletes.
