The 24-Hour Swim Challenge is set to take place from August 22nd to August 23rd, 2026, at the Sonnenbrinkbad Obernkirchen pool located on Am Sonnenbrink 2 in Obernkirchen. This unique event offers participants an opportunity to push their endurance limits and enjoy a community-focused aquatic experience.
To participate, individuals must be able to swim at least 100 meters without assistance. Registration is open from June 1st until the day of the event on August 22nd. Participants can sign up either online or in person at the Sonnenbrinkbad Obernkirchen facility. An entry fee of €12 for adults and €9 for children/youth (under 18) grants access to this marathon-style swim.
The pool area provides a comfortable setting with overnight camping available on-site, but campers are required to register in advance by contacting Info@sonnenbrinkbad.de or calling 05724 902732. A €30 deposit is collected for each tent spot and will be refunded upon departure if the site remains undamaged.
Swimmers can choose any stroke during their competition, but they must touch the edge of the pool after completing a lap to ensure accurate distance tracking. No fins or other swimming aids are permitted throughout the event duration. Participants who form teams should clearly indicate this on their registration forms and swim under team names.
Each competitor will receive an official participation certificate and medal upon completion. Awards include top individual swimmers in various age categories, best performing group, as well as special recognition for those with the most distance covered during nighttime hours (12 AM to 4 AM). Additionally, a season pass to Sonnenbrinkbad Obernkirchen will be given out to both male and female participants who swim the longest distances overall.
On-site volunteers manage registrations, assist swimmers at designated lanes, and ensure that all rules are followed. Swimmers must collect their own start cards from registration desks before each session but should hand these over when finished for tallying purposes. If a participant decides to stop swimming early, they need to inform the staff accordingly.
The event concludes around noon on Sunday with awards presentations recognizing outstanding achievements throughout this grueling 24-hour swim challenge. Participants are advised that their photos and videos may be used in media coverage without additional compensation as part of promotional activities for future events.
By signing up, swimmers agree to adhere to all competition rules and waive liability claims against organizers unless caused by gross negligence or intent.
