The 25th Sakado Citizens Charity Marathon, held as part of Sakado's 50th anniversary as a city, has two guest runners: professional runner Kaori Yoshida, a Sakado native, and Mariko Yugeta, a citizen runner living in the city. Events are a main 10 km, an easy 5 km, a 3 km run for full-effort or leisurely runners, and a 1.3 km parent-and-child run for a guardian paired with a child in grades 1 to 4 (1,500 yen per pair). There is also a children's ekiden for fourth to sixth graders from the city, run by teams of eight, six runners and two alternates, over six legs totaling 6.67 km. The team fee is 4,000 yen, and elementary school pupils from outside the city who belong to a local sports club may enter. The venue is in Ishii, Sakado.
