This event is not just about running; it's also deeply rooted in tradition and purpose. Since 1994, Fast Flash has been more than just a five-kilometer road race—it’s a celebration of fitness, family, and education. Over the years, thousands have participated to support the Franklin Township Education Foundation, ensuring that local schools receive vital resources for their students. This year's event will see an exciting addition: the Back-2-School Bash! Following the 5K start line, kids can participate in a fun 2k run around the school grounds.
For runners preparing on race day, expect to find a fast and flat course that winds its way through the neighborhood surrounding Franklin Central High School. The terrain is hard-packed dirt with minimal elevation changes, making it ideal for those looking to set personal bests or just enjoy a leisurely jog. At the start line, participants will be greeted by the roar of community energy as families, friends, and neighbors come together to support one another.
The course layout includes several notable features: runners can look forward to passing through the vibrant school grounds where kids are cheering them on from the sidelines. As they near the finish line, spectators await with water stations, snacks, and encouragement. The route also passes by a splash tower for an extra cool-down after the race.
Start time is 7 AM sharp, so mark your calendars early to ensure you make it in plenty of time. Race day weather forecasts predict average temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels slightly above normal at 73%. Runners should prepare accordingly by bringing lightweight clothing and staying hydrated. Additionally, the UV index will be high, reaching up to very high levels, so sunscreen is a must.
