Held on Saturday, October 31 at 9:30 AM, the 33rd annual Goblin Gallop 5K Road Race returns to Abraham Wing School in Glens Falls. This beloved community-run race embraces a Halloween theme, inviting runners of all ages to enjoy a spirited and fun-filled event. The course features two loops through downtown Glens Falls, designed for speed with its well-marked route that participants have come to know as "So fast it's scary!" The Goblin Gallop offers an additional treat for younger racers: the Halloween Hop 1K (0.6 miles) fun run immediately following the main event, where kids can enjoy a special finisher’s bag full of treats. Registration costs $30 per runner or $27 if you're logged in through Adirondack Runners; race day registration is available for $35. Early registrants who sign up by October 10th will receive a commemorative T-shirt, while packet pickup and same-day registration are both open from 8:00 to 9:00 AM at Abraham Wing School. The event awards overall winners as well as age group prizes for male and female participants. However, there is no formal award ceremony; instead, results will be announced upon completion of the race. For more information or assistance with registration, contact Lee & Linda Pollock via phone (518-796-2913) or email (aleepollock@gmail.com). Sponsors for this year's Goblin Gallop include Mahoney Alarms, Docksider Restaurant, MMB & Co. CPA’s, and The Table Rock Group at Morgan Stanley. Proceeds from the race support an ongoing Nepal Village School Project, which has already led to significant achievements such as constructing a new three-story Regional Secondary School building in a remote hill village. Race Director Lee Pollock spent two years teaching there during his Peace Corps service in the 1970s and continues to be dedicated to improving education conditions. Current goals for the project include enhancing sanitation, providing clean water, establishing a library, and increasing access to computers and internet resources within the school community. The impact of these initiatives has been profound, fostering hope and optimism among villagers who are deeply appreciative of this support. The Goblin Gallop promises an engaging experience with its unique Halloween atmosphere and meaningful cause, making it a must-attend event for both runners and supporters alike.
