35th Annual Reindeer Run/Walk

As the sun casts its light across the cobblestone streets of historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina, come together for the 35th Annual Reindeer Run/Walk. This beloved event is more than just a race; it's an opportunity to celebrate community spirit and support local charities. The run takes place on December 12, marking over three decades of tradition.
Race day in downtown Charleston offers a unique blend of urban charm and festive energy. As runners lace up their shoes for the five-kilometer course, they will find themselves surrounded by the historic architecture and bustling community life that defines this city. This year’s event has grown significantly since its humble beginnings; from just a few hundred runners in 1992, it now draws over three thousand participants annually. The funds raised benefit MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital, providing much-needed support for expanded services and amenities that enhance pediatric care in South Carolina.
Course & Conditions
The race route weaves through the heart of downtown Charleston, offering a mix of firm and slightly soft terrain on paved streets and sidewalks. Runners will experience a variety of landscapes, from tree-lined avenues to scenic parks and historic buildings. The course layout features several notable landmarks such as American Gardens and the iconic Meeting Street.
Starting near 141 Meeting Street, runners can expect an elevation gain of about 30 feet over the five-kilometer distance. Along the way, there will be three aid stations strategically placed to ensure timely hydration and nutrition for all participants. A special feature this year includes a festive finish line area adorned with holiday decorations.

Bib pickup will take place at Half Moon Outfitters - West Ashley (94 Folly Rd Blvd) from December 11, between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Limited packet pickup will also be available on race morning from 7-7:45 AM.
The run starts promptly at 8 AM in downtown Charleston near the start location of 137 N Market St. Parking is recommended in one of the many nearby garages to ensure a smooth start to your day. Overall awards and costume contest winners will be announced starting at 9 AM, based on gun time for overall categories and chip time for age groups.
