35. Bergwitztriathlon

The 35th Bergwitztriathlon, scheduled for September 5, 2026, is an inviting event organized by TriathlonFreunde Wittenberg e.V., offering something unique and engaging for both newcomers and seasoned athletes. The race takes place in the scenic town of Wittenberg, where participants will experience a blend of aquatic challenges, cycling routes, and running trails that showcase the area's natural beauty.
The event is meticulously planned by the TriathlonFreunde Wittenberg e.V., ensuring all aspects adhere to strict safety guidelines set forth by the German Triathlon Union (DTU). Competitors must be at least 16 years old to participate in individual races, while younger athletes aged between 10 and 15 can compete if accompanied by a responsible adult who has signed the necessary liability waiver. For even younger participants—ages 6 through 9—the race offers an introductory course that includes swimming, cycling, and running segments tailored specifically for them.
Race day starts early with registration opening at 8:15 AM, allowing ample time to collect start materials and familiarize yourself with the event setup before your category's rolling start. The main individual triathlon begins at 9:30 AM, followed by races for younger participants in the afternoon.
The race course features a swim segment of either 200 meters or 50 meters depending on age group, taking place within the serene waters of Bergwitzsee. Cyclists then face a challenging but scenic route measuring up to five kilometers for older competitors and approximately one kilometer for younger groups, all while adhering strictly to helmet regulations and observing wind shadow laws. The race concludes with runs ranging from 1000 meters down to just 200 meters.
Participants are reminded of the importance of ensuring their equipment meets safety standards as they will be responsible for any technical issues that arise during the event. Additionally, all competitors must present a helmet upon check-in and ensure it is worn throughout cycling segments.
The day culminates with awards ceremonies following each race category, celebrating achievements across various divisions including women's, men's, mixed teams, families, and companies. Spectators are advised to plan their arrival well in advance due to potential traffic delays around the venue.
