About the Event

The Kanakuri Shiso Memorial Marathon is held in Nagomi, hometown of Shiso Kanakuri — Japan's first-ever Olympian (Stockholm, 1912) and 'father of Japanese marathon running,' who also helped establish the Hakone Ekiden. Runners can pass in front of Kanakuri's birth house and along the very road he ran to school as a child. Entry fees: Half Marathon ¥5,000, 10km ¥4,000 (high school ¥2,000), 3km ¥2,000, 1.2km ¥1,500 (junior high age and under residing in the town: ¥500)
