A rare nationwide event where runners climb the 1,138 stone steps of Ichibata Yakushi Temple. It's a tough stone-stairway marathon, but the sense of accomplishment it delivers is something you simply can't find at any other event. Entry fees: general ¥4,000, high school ¥2,000
