50th YMCA TURKEY TROT

The 50th Annual YMCA of El Paso Turkey Trot is set to take place on November 26, 2026, offering runners and walkers the chance to participate in this historic race. The event features both a 5K run and a one-mile walk, providing opportunities for all fitness levels.
Registration for participants must be completed online before the day of the race as t-shirts and medals will not be mailed out; these items are available only through on-site pickup at designated locations. Packet pick-up is scheduled from November 21 to November 23 at Fred and Maria Loya Family YMCA, located at 2044 Trawood Drive (Sunday hours: 12pm-3pm, Saturday and Monday: 9am-6pm), with additional pickup options available on the 24th and 25th of November from 9am to 6pm at Westside Family YMCA.
The race is capped at a total of 3,500 participants—3,200 for runners/walkers and an additional 300 spots reserved for swimmers or those who prefer to "sleep" (a non-competitive option). The event starts from the intersection of Montana Avenue and Ange Street. For the 5K run, participants will make a left turn onto Willow Street before turning right at Grant Avenue, where they'll loop back around and return via the same route to their starting point. Those participating in the one-mile walk will head straight down Montana Avenue until reaching 1518 Montana, then retrace their steps back to the start.
Registration fees vary depending on when participants sign up:
- Early Registration: $39 (August 1 - September 25)
- Regular Registration: $50 (September 26 - November 20)
- Late Registration: $69 (November 21 - November 25)
- Day of Race On-Site Registration: $79 (if space is available)
The Sleep or Swim option, which isn't a competitive race but rather an opportunity for participants to enjoy the event at their own pace and leisure, comes with its own registration fee of $40. This includes a short-sleeve cotton T-shirt and participation medal.
