The Rising Sun depicts rays of light spreading in all directions without clouds and honors the day or auspicious events. The Rising Sun flag is used in everyday life in Japan, such as to celebrate a big catch by fishermen, childbirth and other festivities. Our 5k will embody the spirit of the Rising Sun to celebrate the day starting with a karate style warm up and finishing with celebratory board breaking after you cross the finish line!

All participants will receive a custom bib, finisher medal and Rising Sun t-shirt. The funds we are raising benefits the Kick Start Foundation of Palm Beach which offers in helping at-risk and underprivileged children stay out of trouble, go to school and become productive students. Through martial arts training, which teaches students discipline, respect, focus, courtesy and perseverance, Kick Start provides the students with the skills necessary for attaining goals, increased self-esteem and personal development. High standards, parental involvement and community support are all integral and crucial to the success of our program.

The Rising Sun 5K is a chipped timed event and will provide awards top 3 overall (male and female) as well as age groups.

Lake Worth Beach, previously named Lake Worth, is a city in east-central Palm Beach County, Florida, United States, located about 63 miles (101 km) north of Miami. The city's name is derived from the body of water along its eastern border known as the Lake Worth Lagoon, which was named for General William J. Worth, who led United States Army forces during the last part of the Second Seminole War.
