4th Mito Kaido Journey Run 127km (Edo-Bound Edition) (第4回 水戸街道ジャーニーラン127km＜出府編＞)

The Mito Tokugawa family served as advisers to the shogun and was based in Edo, so it was not subject to alternate attendance, yet retainers traveled between Edo and Mito frequently. Twenty-three feudal lords also used the route for their attendance duties, and it came to rank as an important trunk road just after the five major highways. That historic road is the Mito Kaido, running from Senju-juku through Matsudo, Toride and Tsuchiura to the Mito domain. The organizers treat the run as a journey through its history, alternating each year between the Edo-bound edition, heading up to Edo, and the homeward edition. This one is the Edo-bound edition, 127K in two stages: 68.1K and 58.9K.
