The ICHRPNorCaland Defend Negros Coalition invite you to join them for the second annual 5K Run for Brandon Lee & Land Defenders, taking place in San Francisco. This family-friendly and pet-friendly run is designed to welcome participants of all abilities, offering a range of options from walking to running or rolling along the scenic Great Highway. Participants can choose between three routes: a leisurely one-mile stroll, a two-mile jog, or the full 5K distance that winds through some of San Francisco’s most picturesque coastal areas. The event is non-competitive and aims to foster community support for environmental advocate Brandon Lee as well as land defenders in the Philippines. Registration includes several perks: - A running bib - Justice for Brandon Zine - Cordillera-inspired temporary tattoos Those unable to attend can still contribute by sharing information with friends or making a donation via Venmo @humanrightsph. Additionally, individuals and organizations are encouraged to set up team fundraisers and aim for a goal of $100. The 5K Run marks five years since Brandon Lee survived an assassination attempt that left him in need of long-term care. By participating, runners can help raise awareness about his story and the ongoing struggles faced by land defenders around the world. Organizations, community groups, and small businesses are also invited to support the event through various means such as sponsorship, volunteering, organizing a team of runners, providing merchandise or refreshments for participants, and spreading the word within their communities. For those who prefer last-minute sign-ups, same-day registration is available on-site. Join us in celebrating resilience and solidarity at this meaningful run that promises an engaging experience amidst stunning coastal scenery. This event not only celebrates Brandon Lee’s survival but also highlights the critical work of land defenders fighting for environmental justice worldwide.
