The 8th edition of the Oldersumer Apple Loop, set to take place on September 26, 2026, promises another exhilarating day for runners and walkers alike. This beloved race has once again drawn a dedicated following, ensuring its continued presence in the local sporting calendar. Participants can choose from various distances tailored to different age groups and skill levels: an 800-meter fun run designed specifically for younger competitors (U6/U8 and U10/U12), a scenic walking route covering 5 kilometers, as well as challenging courses of 5km and 10km. The event's unique appeal lies in its picturesque course that winds through the lush Oldersumer Park grounds, along the tranquil "Rorichumer Tief" canal, and past charming local streets. One of the highlights is running through a historic museum dedicated to old shipbuilding before finishing at the Apfelpark where visitors can indulge in delicious treats during the annual Apple Market. This year marks the fourth time that the Oldersumer Apple Loop will be part of the Ostfriesische 7 series, offering participants an opportunity to earn special shirts by completing five out of seven races across Emden and Oldersum throughout the season. The other events in this thrilling series include the Emder Berglauf, Matjeslauf, middenmang-Loop, Wybelsumer Polderlauf, Delftlauf, and concluding with a New Year's Eve run.
