9º DESAFIO DO FORTE ITAIPU

On November 29, 2026, runners will gather for the Desafio Fortaleza de Itaipu, an exhilarating race that takes participants through historic and scenic locations along Brazil's coast. Starting at Av. Presidente Castelo Branco in front of Praça Duque de Caxias, the course begins with a run down the bustling seaside promenade before transitioning to the sandy beach near Praia Grande.
The 8-kilometer route then leads runners inland towards Fortaleza de Itaipu, where they must navigate steep ascents and descents along a rugged path up to the iconic Forte Duque de Caxias. This final stretch offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape as competitors push themselves through challenging terrain.
Organized by SBS Sports LTDA in collaboration with ASSOAFI and supported by Praia Grande's local government, this event celebrates both military history and athletic achievement. Categories include general male and female divisions, age groups from 16 to over 70 years old, a special category for active-duty military personnel, and accommodations for PCD runners.
In addition to the main race, participants can enjoy unique features such as Canicross, allowing dog owners to run alongside their pets. Online registration is available at www.ticketsports.com.br until November 20th or while spots remain open.
