9th Annual Asifiwe 5k Run & 1 Mile Walk

Join us this year at Tyler Park's Center for the Arts for the 9th Annual Asifiwe Child Care Ministries 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk, an inspiring community event that combines fitness with philanthropy. This family-friendly race aims to raise $30,000 in support of a vital non-profit organization based in Uganda dedicated to uplifting orphaned, abandoned, and abused children.
The scenic route takes runners through the heart of Tyler Park, offering participants a flat 5K loop around lush greenery and charming landscapes. The course is designed for all fitness levels, with walkers having the option to complete either one or two miles on this hill-free walk circuit. Pets are welcome too, adding an extra touch of warmth and companionship to your experience.
Prizes will be awarded to both runners and walkers in various categories: overall male and female winners as well as top finishers in age groups from 9 & under up to 60+. All participants receive a raffle ticket upon registration, giving them the chance to win one of several gift baskets or cards during our post-race ceremony.
The race day festivities start early with sign-in at 8:30 AM and pre-event announcements beginning at 9:30 AM. The run/walk kicks off promptly at 10:00 AM, followed by an awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of all participants.
Registration fees are $40 for adults (ages 18+) or $35 if registered before June 30th; youth registration is $15 (ages 6-17) with a discounted rate of $12 when registering early. T-shirts are guaranteed only to those who register by August 16th.
The event promises an array of activities for the whole family, including face painting, balloon animals, raffle giveaways, and delicious treats like soft pretzels and baked goods. Volunteers will direct you to parking adjacent to the art center due to limited space within Tyler Park.
