The 9th Annual Solstice Swim returns to Alexandra Headland in Queensland on Sunday, June 21st, marking a decade of community-driven ocean swims under the guidance of the Alexandra Headland Rotary Club and Surf Lifesaving Club. Nestled along the picturesque coastline where the Kabi Kabi people have lived for centuries, this event celebrates both tradition and renewal with swimmers from all walks of life gathering to embrace the spirit of camaraderie.
On race day, participants will find themselves immersed in a vibrant community atmosphere that blends the cool ocean breezes of early winter with the warm glow of anticipation. The beachfront is alive with chatter as swimmers gather for safety briefings led by Alex Headland Lifesavers on jet skis and boards, ensuring every participant feels secure while enjoying their swim. The waters are clear and inviting, framed against a backdrop of rolling waves that meet the shore in rhythmic harmony.
Since its inception nine years ago, this event has grown into an integral part of Alexandra Headland’s summer transition to winter, drawing hundreds of swimmers annually for what is more than just a race but a celebration of community spirit.
