A Sundae In July 5K Run/Walk

The Scottish Rite Valley itself is a beautifully maintained park with well-maintained pathways perfect for running or walking. As runners make their way along the 5K route, they will pass by numerous landmarks such as the historical Bloomingdale Lake Park to the west of The Scottish Rite Valley. This area has been hosting local events and gatherings for decades, fostering a deep community connection that is palpable on race day.
Since its inception in 2013, A Sundae In July has grown into more than just a run or walk; it's an annual tradition where the entire Bloomingdale community comes together. Over the years, thousands of participants have crossed the finish line, raising funds and awareness for the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Metropolitan Chicago. The event is not only about physical exertion but also about giving back to those in need.
The course itself includes a mix of paved paths and sidewalks that provide a hard and dry surface underfoot throughout much of its length. As you run, you'll pass by several notable features such as the historic Bloomingdale Lake Park on your right. The Youth Fun Run held at 9:00 AM will add an extra layer of excitement for families with young children.
On race day, expect a comfortable temperature feel around 23°C and clear skies providing nearly 12 hours of sunshine. While there is little chance of rain (6mm expected), runners should still prepare for some humidity as the UV index reaches Very High levels at 8.0. The finish line will be set up with all necessary amenities, ensuring a smooth transition from race to celebration.

Bibs will be available for pickup starting on July 25th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bloomingdale's Town Hall, located at 400 E Lake Street, Bloomingdale, IL. Don’t forget to bring your photo ID and a printout of your race confirmation email.
