The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) Wilmington Chapter is proud to present its annual 9.5-mile run, an event that not only celebrates the rich heritage and community spirit of Greek-Americans but also raises vital funds for Odyssey Charter School. This year’s race promises a scenic route through historic neighborhoods and parks in Wilmington, offering participants a unique blend of urban charm and natural beauty. The course begins at AHEPA Hall on Market Street, where runners will be greeted by the warm atmosphere of community support before setting off into the heart of downtown Wilmington. The initial miles take you past iconic landmarks such as the Delaware Public Archives and Brandywine Park, providing a mix of flat terrain and gentle inclines that cater to both seasoned athletes and recreational runners. As the race progresses, participants will enjoy views of the picturesque Christina Riverfront, known for its vibrant atmosphere and stunning architecture. The route then ventures into residential areas lined with mature trees and well-kept gardens, offering a peaceful respite from city life. Runners can anticipate cheering crowds at various points along the way, adding an extra layer of excitement to their journey. The final stretch leads runners back toward AHEPA Hall for the finish line celebration. Post-race festivities include refreshments, awards for top performers in different age categories, and opportunities to connect with fellow participants and community members. All proceeds from this event will go directly towards supporting Odyssey Charter School’s mission of providing high-quality education to its students. Whether you’re a competitive runner looking to set personal bests or someone who enjoys the camaraderie of group activities, the AHEPA Wilmington Chapter 95-mile run offers an engaging experience that benefits both participants and the local community. Join us for a day filled with running, culture, and giving back.
