What if there was a Marathon that started downtown and then showed off the Metro Parks? The Akron Trail Marathon does just that! You will start at Memorial Parkway trailhead, run a quick out & back into the city, then head to Summit Metro Parks. The course follows the locks out of downtown and then heads north on the Towpath. Once you leave the Towpath Trail, you will head out onto the rugged trails of the Summit Metro Parks in Akron, winding your way past the beautiful Cuyahoga River. Each distance has its own appeal- the 10k has about 4 miles of crushed limestone trail and 2 miles of rugged hills. The half marathon has a mix of crushed limestone trail, rugged hills, and a hilly road section. The full marathon is the crown jewel of the race and has it all, with over 2,000' of gain! Full marathon new route: https://www.plotaroute.com/route/3171264?units=km **** Minimum age to run the full marathon is 18. No exceptions. Thank you!
We will have 6 water stops on the marathon route, 4 on the half marathon route, and 1 on the 10k route. We will have water & sports drink at the water stops; snacks (chips & fruit snacks) for the half and full at the Oxbow aid station. It is advised that you carry a handheld water bottle, as it will most likely be hot & humid in mid-July. We would also like to use as few cups as possible to help out our environment. ***There are fewer water stops on this course than on a road course. Please be prepared***
Awards for first and second overall male and female in each distance. Awards also to masters male and female in each distance. Medals for all finishers.
Price includes medal & t-shirt (cut off for guaranteed t-shirt size is June 14). ***
Packet pickup will be on Friday, July 10 and race day morning for our out of town guests.
