Alaska Endurance Trail Run

The Alaska Endurance Trail Run will take place from Friday, June 5, 2026, to Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the ski hut behind the International Arctic Research Center at UAF, 903 Koyukuk Drive, Fairbanks, AK. This is the 10th anniversary of the event, a timed race where runners compete to cover the greatest distance within their chosen time limit on a roughly 6-mile loop on the trails of the UAF West Ridge. Options include 6-hour, 12-hour, and 24-hour races.

All participants must follow event rules as provided by the organizer. The course is mildly technical in places, with roots, occasional fallen branches, some rocks, and potentially soggy spots depending on spring breakup and rainfall. There are no road crossings aside from a couple of gravel maintenance roads. A short section (approximately 300 feet) runs along a paved bike path on the east side of the course around Ballaine Lake, though runners may run alongside on gravel or grass.

• Minors aged 12 to 17 are welcome to participate but must be accompanied by a parent or designated guardian on the premises for the entire event duration.
• All three race durations finish at the same time, creating an exciting completion. A post-race BBQ party is held immediately after the final finish, with the awards ceremony following as soon as results are ready.
• The starting area is at the ski hut near the parking lot behind the International Arctic Research Center at UAF (address: 930 Koyukuk Drive, Fairbanks, Alaska). The location is adjacent to and north of the Geophysical Institute on the upper campus.
• The course runs on world-class Nordic ski trails during winter, featuring gravel, grass, roots, and forest duff surfaces, passing through heavily forested areas, open fields, and meadows.
• Registration closes Monday, June 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM AK.

The Alaska Endurance Trail Run is a timed event where runners race the clock to see how many loops (and thus total distance) they can complete within 6, 12, or 24 hours. All distances use the same 6-mile loop course on the University of Alaska Fairbanks West Ridge trails. Results from previous years are available online.
