Nestled among Alcoy's historic streets, the Alcoy Half Marathon offers runners an immersive journey through one of Spain’s most charming towns. Known as "The City of Bridges," Alcoy boasts numerous architectural marvels that span its picturesque neighborhoods and waterways. As participants lace up their shoes, they are greeted by a vibrant tapestry of local culture and history.
Starting in the heart of old Alcoy, runners weave through iconic squares such as Plaza de España and Plaza de Dins before venturing into more tranquil areas like Carbonella’s Parterre and País Valencià. The route then takes them over several notable bridges including María Cristina Bridge, Cervantes Bridge, San Jorge Bridge, and Petxina Bridge, each offering unique perspectives of the town's rich heritage.
With a total elevation gain of 130 meters across two laps, this half marathon is designed to challenge runners while providing scenic views at every turn. Along the way, energetic volunteers and performers create an electrifying atmosphere with dance and music at 13 different animation points scattered throughout the course. These lively segments ensure that participants are continually motivated as they push through each mile.
