Immerse yourself in the rolling hills and lush woodlands of Derbyshire's Amber Valley for an unforgettable trail running adventure. The Amberaid, a 31-mile escapade through undulating countryside paths and trails, presents runners with a challenging yet rewarding journey close to the eastern edge of the Peak District. The race begins at Ashover Village Hall in Milken Lane, S45 0BA, where participants can register between 8:00 AM and 8:45 AM. Free parking is available on-site for all competitors. The event kicks off promptly at 9:00 AM with a finish line deadline of 6:00 PM. The route traces an elegant figure-eight pattern through the picturesque Amber Valley, offering runners panoramic views over rolling hills and tranquil woodlands. Along the way, you'll encounter punchy climbs that test your stamina and engaging descents that showcase the valley's natural beauty. The trails are largely unmarked but come equipped with detailed route notes and GPX files to guide participants. For those seeking a more manageable challenge, the Petit Raid, covering 20 miles of the Northern Loop of Amberaid, is also an option. Both routes feature water stations at every checkpoint, while food stops are available at CP1 (Tupton), CP2 (Wessington), and CP4 (Wessington). Key checkpoints include: - Tupton: 7 miles - Wessington: 13.5 miles - Fritchley: 20 miles (Amberaid route only) - Wessington: 25.5 miles (Amberaid route only) All finishers receive a commemorative medal, and prizes are awarded to the first male and female competitors in each race category. Medical support is available throughout both the course and at the event headquarters for added peace of mind. Additionally, participants can opt to purchase XCover insurance, offering financial protection should unforeseen circumstances prevent their participation. Join us on a day brimming with natural beauty, challenging terrain, and rewarding camaraderie as you explore one of Derbyshire's most scenic trail running routes.
